Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we hear most.
What is Gundo?
A messaging app built for Mali: chats, voice messages, voice and video calls, stories and neighbourhood alerts, in French, English and Bamanankan.
When will Gundo be available?
Gundo comes to Android first, then to computers. The date and download links will be published on the Download page.
Which phone do I need?
An Android phone running Android 7.0 or later. The iPhone version has no date yet.
Are my messages encrypted?
On Android, one-to-one and group chats are end-to-end encrypted with the Signal protocol, attachments included. The server still sees who writes to whom and when. The Security page details what is in place and what is not yet.
Who can message me?
Only the people you have accepted as friends. You also choose how people can find you: address book, search, QR code.
Can I use Gundo on a computer?
Yes, on Windows, macOS and Linux. The computer is linked to your phone by scanning a code; your chats and calls are available there.
How many people can join a group call?
Up to six people, voice or video, with screen sharing.
Which languages is the app available in?
French, English and Bamanankan.
